2025 Latest Corvette Show News

July End of Month UPDATE message for Corvette Show Along with the C3 1968-1972 “Bumper Cars” as the feature car at our show this November, our secondary theme is the Corvette tradition “Save the Wave”. It originated in 1953 as a way for Corvette owners to give a full hand wave to each other on the road to show recognition to other car enthusiasts and as a symbol of belonging to the Corvette community, along with a shared appreciation of the beautiful cars we all drive. This time-honored tradition is a cherished aspect of Corvette ownership that has been passed down to new owners throughout all eight generations of cars; however, as time has passed, it has lost some of the participation with younger drivers, and so the “Save the Wave” campaign began. The only rule is a simple one. There is no excuse for not waving to a fellow Corvette owner ! Whoever sees the other Corvette first starts the wave and expects one in return; it’s as simple as that. Our Corvette Club of Marion County promotes “Save the Wave” at every club member’s meeting, in our weekly Presidents Report to all members, and on the back of this year’s show shirt that is available for our members and all cars show participants to purchase. We are proud to do our share to promote this tradition, and there is even a “Save the Wave” Facebook page that has a lot of different ways for Corvette owners to promote it. If you have not already done so, now is the time to register for our 27th Annual All Corvette Car Show to be held in Ocala, Florida on November 8th. Introduced in 1968, the third-generation C3 Corvette enjoyed a long and eventful life, remaining in production all the way through 1982. And while the C3 saw constant changes through the years, for many Corvette enthusiasts the 1972 model year marks the end of an era: This was the last Corvette with traditional chrome bumpers front and rear. For 1973, a flexible urethane nose painted in body color took the place of the thin chrome blade, and one year later in ’74 a flexible tail was added to the rear. Both changes, of course, were in response to U.S. government impact standards. Across the Motor City, all makes and models were sporting a new look to meet the 5 mph bumper regulations.
