CORVETTE CLUB OF MARION COUNTY
General Membership Business Meeting Minutes
February 5, 2025
PRESIDENT: Mike Stone
Mike called the meeting to order at 7:00. The membership was welcomed and everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Mike told the membership there was going to be a shortened agenda this evening as most of the meeting will center around the new website to bring membership up to date on how to get on the site and use some of the data that has been made available to use. This will be an ongoing process until it is totally completed. Mike reminded the membership that all Executive Board Meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month and are open to all members. The meeting is at Mimi’s starting with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., if you wish, and the meeting starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. Mike reminded everyone to check their email as he communicates added information and changes through email.
VICE PRESIDENT: Tina Farabee
Membership Update: Currently we have fifty-seven families.
New Members and Visitors: Our guests this evening are Tom and Sue Markfording who have two corvettes, one is a C3 1975 yellow stingray, and the other is a C6, as well as Carol Hazzard who is a friend of Larry Luke. Welcome!
Annual CCMC Picnic: This year the picnic will be at Shell Newsom’s Car Barn on Sunday, April 27th. Please save the date and I will have more information at the next meeting.
FOOD 4 KIDS: Ernie Brandes: We deliver 26 bags to Harbour View Elementary School. Thank you, Mike, and Joyce Stone, for their service in January. Roger and Nancy Duty will be delivering bags in February.
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS: Jim Winburn traveled just past Las Vegas to an Autocross track. He had 12 months of training prior. Jim presented a video of him driving the track where he reached the highest speed of 107 miles per hour. He was following a pace car so there was no passing. He said it was challenging and enjoyed it very much. He encouraged anyone who has the chance to do so, to take advantage of it. It is quite an experience.
Glenn Cauvin brought in the book of the production run of his corvette. He said he did a run on a course for his z06.
At this time, Linda Yanss presented the new CCMC website. She has 30 years of experience as a graphic designer and is professionally qualified to undertake the design of our website, so it is user-friendly. She showed the membership how to get into the website and maneuver around. We have the same headings as the last website, but items are updated and streamlined for easy use. Linda advised if anyone has anything to add or has any questions to please send her an email at corvclubmc@gmail.com
Linda also said to spell words out such as “and” and not to use any special characters such as &, /, #, -, $, %, etc., when signing up for events or in any other circumstance. The old website is not usable, so please do not sign in there. The new website is not finished, and Linda will be having monthly updates as to where the progress is. Please be patient.

Cheryl also told membership that every other month starting in March, we will have an Ice Cream cruise in, to alternate between Jeremiah’s on 200 and Twistee Treat on 200 in front of Hobby Lobby. The first one will be March 19th at 6:00 at Jeremiah’s. There is no sign-up sheet, just jump in the corvette with your chairs and hang out at Jeremiah’s. This will be conducted through September, the third Wednesday of the month.
Cruise into dinner will be at Blackwater Grill on March 26th. There is a sign-up sheet for this event. Further information will be on the website.
Looking ahead, Cheryl wanted to see how many members would be interested in going on a corvette cruise to Sanford to then have a cruise and 3 course lunch on a boat down the St. John’s River. The cost is $72.80 per person. We would need at least 20 people to sign up before scheduling. Cheryl is looking at July 17th and the money will need to be paid to Cheryl prior.
