General Membership Business Meeting Minutes
January 8, 2025
PRESIDENT: Mike Stone called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance. He wished each member a Happy New Year. Executive Board Meetings are available to all members. The next meeting is scheduled for January 29, 2025, Breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. The home page of the website is being updated. Please excuse our mess as we improve it for you. Nick and Cheryl of Events will present an overview of the next 3 months’ activities. VICE PRESIDENT: Tina Farabee Membership Dues: The membership dues are due by the end of January. Thank you to all who have renewed their membership. You can pay them tonight if you want by cash, check or credit card. There will be an updated list at the end of the month with our total families. New Members/Visitors: Jim and Lisa Winburn and John McArdle are new members. Welcome! Service Providers: John Farabee is having his C7 updated with Blue Tooth and car play. Ocala Audio is doing the upgrade. Nick D’Altilio recommended Joe Hudson’s collision. His daily driver was backed into, and they did the repairs. Extremely easy to work with and they kept him informed throughout the entire process. Rene Dupree recommended a mobile detailing service and has some business cards. Trophies: Larry Heier went to Toy for Tots at Don Garlits in December and said it was mostly a “rusty metal” show, so he did not win anything, but he did attend the Winter Haven show and won second overall. Luis Santiago attended three shows in December. First at the Silver Springs Community Center: Best Chevy. Second at Six Gun Plaza Cruise: Overall. Third: Maricamp: Best Corvette. Rey Salabarria: Toys for Tots at Don Garlits; a consolation prize for the 50/50 of $500. Wayne Tanner: Toys for Tots at Don Garlits: Best Chevy. Arnette House: They are doing well; no report. SECRETARY: Rosalee D’Altilio (substitute) December 2024 Meeting minutes: Motion to approve December 2024 meeting minutes as posted, second made. Motion passed. No correspondence. TREASURER: Jack Carroll Financial Report: December 1st beginning balance was $18,548.37. Two bank deposits totaling $1,015. Three checks totaling $2,895.02. No bank fees. December 31st ending balance $16,668.35. Motion made to accept the treasurer’s report as given, motion seconded. Motion passed. Financial report accepted as given. Jack reminded everyone that membership dues of $65 are due by the end of January. He will accept credit cards. Jack has established with the Federal Government that our club, Corvette Club of Marion County, is a non-profit organization. He has spent the last 6 months and a 44-page document establishing our status as a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are now tax exempt. Well done, Jack! SPONSOR COORDINATOR: Roger Duty Roger said our sponsors are all easy to work with and supportive of our organization. If you have any questions, please contact him. EVENT COORDINATOR: Nick D’Altilio and Cheryl Whiteley Nick presented a 3-month overview of upcoming events. The events committee is planning a cruise-in every other month at either Jeremiah’s in front of Oak Run on 200 or Twistee Treat in front of Hobby Lobby also on 200. They will start in March at Jeremiah’s. They will be from 6 to 8p.m. and are social gatherings. They are planning events for every month. Starting in January with a tour of Two Tails Ranch, an elephant rescue and educational facility. Information will follow. February: President’s Day Poker Run. March: Tiffany Museum, Winter Park. April: Bok Tower. May: DeLeon Springs Sugar Mill Pancake house. June: Tarpon Springs. July: St John’s River Cruise and Dinner. August: Harbor Hills Brunch. September: Daytona Museum. October: Weeki Wachee. November: CCMC Annual Corvette Show. December: Holiday Christmas Party. These events are not scheduled as to date. Some are still in need of a sponsor to organize the event. If you are interested in setting an event up, please contact either Nick or Cheryl Whiteley. They will help you with arranging the event. Cheryl explained the Two Tail Ranch and Rescue: Admission $20. $40 to ride an elephant, (need advanced reservation contact Cheryl). $25 for photo op, and $5 to feed. We will meet at the South State Bank across the street from Ocala Palms at 9:45 a.m. to leave at 10:15 a.m. It is a 35-minute drive. The tours will start at 11 a.m. Lunch will be at a Mexican Restaurant in Williston. NCM AMBASSADOR: Dave Rosser There are tours the museum sponsors called Museum in Motion Tours. Dave will research them and bring them to the club. Dave has written a letter to the Ambassador to contact the museum regarding the club’s concerns with the direction the Museum is taking in not addressing the concerns of all the clubs. Dave also reminded anyone who has renewed their museum membership, gotten insurance or quote or bought anything from the museum to write it on the museum sheet, so the club gets credit for what we do. WEBSITE/FACEBOOK: Roger Peterson Roger explained there are going to be changes to the Website. Linda Yanss is working on it now. Roger also thanked all those who worked on our successful car show in November. We are starting work on the 2025 show now and Larry Tennison has volunteered to co-chair this year’s show with me. COMMITTEE REPORTS: January Birthdays: Nancy Duty- Happy Birthday wishes to Sue Carroll, Karen Dold, Chuck Boettcher, Dawn Logus, Dennis Sundermeyer, Doug Hawkins, and Sigrid Musleh. Sunshine: Nikki Colom- no cards this month. Please let me know if you know of anyone who is ill or in hospital. We want to send good wishes. Club Shirts: Nikki Colom- The club shirt is a white-collar polo shirt for men and a white shirt/blouse for the ladies. Purchase your shirt(s), bring them to a meeting with the money and Nikki will have them embroidered and returned at the next meeting. The logo and name are $15. Hats/Visors: Don Messenger- Mesh hats and fabric baseball style hats as well as visors with the club logo already on are $15 each and are available at each meeting. Club Badges: Ernie Brandes- Magnetic name badges are available for $11. See Ernie after the meeting to order and the badge will be returned at the next meeting. Food4Kids: Ernie Brandes- Thank you to Roger and Nancy Duty for picking up and dropping off bags for December. Mike and Joyce Stone will be picking up and dropping off in January. Interfaith is currently serving two thousand kids in thirty-eight schools with seventy-five volunteers. They prepare seven hundred bags a week. The food we contributed from our holiday party filled Ernie’s SUV with all seats down. They were incredibly grateful.
