Del-Web 4th of July Parade
As in previous years we have always supplied our corvettes for the Del Webb Veterans parade, in Summerfield. Roger Peterson is in charge of this event and asks that if you are going to participate that you sign up so he knows how many cars he's working with. Come-on out and support this event.UPDATE 6-20-2026Thank You all for signing up to be a part of the parade to give a Veteran a “Ride of Honor” down Del Webb Boulevard to our beautiful Veteran’s Memorial Park. We had a meeting yesterday and I can tell you that this is going to be an exciting parade with military vehicles, music, a fife and drum pair dressed in 1776 apparel, two militiamen dressed in uniform carrying fake muskets, a lady dressed as the Statue of Liberty, plus many more walkers, decorated golf carts, and who knows what else our residents will come up with to be a part of this 250th celebration.
Here is the latest information about the Prade:
* We will start getting lined up at 7:30am, but be here by 8:00am at the latest to be in the parade
* Both Del Webb gate entrances will have a list of names of Corvette drivers coming for the parade. Just pull into the “Visitors” lane and the gate guard will let you in. If there is any problem, they will have my cell number to call for authorization but there should not be an issue.
* Proceed down Del Webb Boulevard to the big Horizon Community Center and our Corvettes have permission to use the main entrance instead of the entrance from Eagle Ridge Drive which has a very steep incline.
When you arrive there will be someone directing traffic to where our Corvettes will be lined up. Please follow their directions, our parking spots will be marked “ Corvettes” and someone will show you where to park so we don’t park in another clubs spot.
* We will match you with a Veteran, and as of this morning we have one for every car signed up. There will be 2 Honored Veterans in other cars leading the parade and we will be right behind them following the marching band.
* The parade will begin at 9:00am sharp and proceed down Del Webb Boulevard to the Veteran’s Memorial Park. With the amount of interest in being in the parade this year, along with a special service at the memorial, it may be closer to 11:00am before everything is wrapped up…We will have to see how everything goes, and hopefully it might end a bit sooner for everyone to enjoy the rest of the day celebrating our nations 250th Anniversary.
* I don’t think this will be an issue with any of our drivers, but this year there is to be ABSOLUTELY NO CANDY thrown from cars at the parade… It’s really dangerous to have little kids running into the street to pick it up with cars and golf carts driving there, plus not all of it ever gets picked up and the Veterans Club gets hit with a clean up bill after the parade, so that’s why NO CANDY.
Again Thank You for being a part of our parade, if anything new comes up before the parade I will let you know and as always please contact me at repete8850@gmail or (352) 789-0670 of you have any questions.
Roger Peterson
