General Membership Business Meeting Minutes
April 2, 2025
PRESIDENT: Mike Stone
Mike called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Mike introduced Cheri and Morgan from Arnette House. Their program encompasses many services for at risk youth in the community including runaway or homeless as well as foster children waiting for placement or having outgrown the foster care program. Arnette House provides a safe place providing nutritional food, clothing and hygiene products while they counsel towards bringing families together. Arnette House has an emergency temporary shelter program accommodating up to 20 children who are between the ages of 10-17 who are runaways, abandoned, homeless, truant or have been locked out of their home because of conflict within the home. A SNAP Program (Stop Now and Plan) reaches out to the community providing strategies to increase social skills for children ages 6-11 who engage in aggressive or antisocial behavior and families who need counseling to bring their family back together. The children will continue going to school, have their friends over and go to friends’ homes to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Arnette House has been in existence for 44 years now, founded by the Arnette family after their son died of a drug overdose despite being drug free for many years. They wanted to provide a safe place where youth in the community could receive help in many ways that are needed including a substance abuse program. They have added a new member to Arnette House, Duffy, a dog who brings comfort to many. Education is a part of their program as well providing a schoolhouse on campus using the ISL Program to coincide with the school system. For ages 18-24, children at the Arnette House are provided vocational skills such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical to name a few. They are welcome to stay at Arnette House provided they have a job and are working towards supporting themselves. After learning about Arnette House, CCMC feels this is a worthwhile charity to support as the young people of today will be our future. At the conclusion, Mike, Tina, and Jack presented Cheri and Morgan with a check for $6000 to put towards their education needs at the schoolhouse. They accepted the check with appreciation to all CCMC members for their hard work and generosity to support them.
